The Launch of Learning for a Just World took place in Loreto College Stephen’s Green on Wednesday 25th October 2017.
This publication is a global citizenship education resource to support reflective and active learning for First and Second Years in Loreto schools. The Minister of State, Ciarán Cannon at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade with special responsibility for the Diaspora and International Development was invited to launch this resource. It was attended by students and teachers from Loreto Schools as well as all those involved in and those who supported the production of this valuable resource.
In her speech at the launch Blathnaidh Colhoun, Principal in Loreto College and former Loreto Education Officer noted that in the final version, the themes explored get to the heart of our basic human desires to live well, to belong and to be offered equality of opportunity. Poverty, homelessness and inequality comes in all colours, exists in all countries and on our own doorsteps. If this resource sharpens the awareness of our students to what is around them and causes them to think differently, it will have gone some way in helping to form them as responsible global citizens.
